This Onimusha Way of the Sword trophy guide covers all 52: 1 Platinum, 2 Gold, 9 Silver and 40 Bronze. None are missable, and there are no online or glitched ones. Around 15 to 16 are hidden, staying concealed in the list until you earn them.

Onimusha Way of the Sword trophy guide: Platinum and Gold

TrophyRequirement

Peerless (Platinum)

Earn all trophies

True Onimusha (Gold)

Complete the game on difficulty level "Carnage"

Glutton for Punishment (Gold)

Beat all Boss Rematch opponents on all difficulty levels

These two golds are the only trophies with a difficulty requirement. Carnage itself only unlocks after one full campaign clear on Story or Action, so at least two playthroughs are needed. A Carnage Boss Rematch win counts as clearing that opponent on Story and Action, so one Carnage sweep covers all three tiers.

The two hidden groups worth checking early

Every story boss kill is a hidden entry, which makes the boss list the largest single block of concealed trophies on the game. The other hidden group is the completion side: a boss you never fought on the way, a Mystery or Chance Encounter left unfinished, and the two golds all sit behind the same second playthrough.

Checking the list once per area, rather than once at the end, is what turns this from a backtracking problem into a checklist problem. Nothing here is missable permanently, because choosing Continue after the finale returns you to the area just before it.

The Platinum route

  1. Play on Story or Action and clear every collectible, rescue, upgrade and skill condition before the final mission, "The Clash at Rendaino". Make a manual save before it.

  2. Clear the story. If anything was missed, choosing "Continue" from the main menu returns you to the area just before that final mission, so nothing is permanently missable.

  3. Start New Game+ from the main menu, choose Carnage at the difficulty prompt and complete the second campaign for True Onimusha. Carnage is permanent for that save and removes Action Prompts.

  4. Sweep Boss Rematch: every opponent in the grid must be cleared on Story, Action and Carnage for Glutton for Punishment, so check each marker rather than assuming one difficulty covers the others. Only Boss Rematches count, not Practice Ground drills.

Mysteries of Kyoto and Chance Encounters do not carry into New Game+, so finish all 26 on the first playthrough. Learned skills, Awakened Oni abilities, Hozuki Pouches, charms, Genma Notes and Lion Dogs do carry over. Spend leftover red souls and Favour on charms, pouch upgrades and skills rather than sword or gauntlet levels, since the latter reset in New Game+.

Expect 60 to 70 hours across at least two playthroughs. The combat count trophies can be stacked naturally from the first hour, or farmed afterwards against repeatable enemies using Practice Ground drills or Boss Rematches.
